"Antique 18th century Hawaiian single board Poi Bowl" Antique Wooden Utensils. This "antique Hawaiian poi bowl "measures 34 and one quarter inches by 38 inches across the top. The handles measure 4 and one half inches out each and they are 5 and one half inches wide at the grip. This antique wooden bowl has a wonderful finish, which can be seen in the photographs. This is a very rare piece being made from a single tree stock. This rare poi bowl was brought back from Hawaii in 1930 and dates back to the 18th to early 19th century.

Eskimo art, This Eskimo painting by "Colcord Heurlin" or Rusty his nick name, measures 22 and one half inches wide by 18 and one half inches tall outside of the frame. This painting has the most wonderful pastel palette and it depicts and Eskimo sitting on ice during the day ice fishing for tomcod. He has just caught a fish that is splashing out of water as he trys to land in. This wonderful painting measures 18 inches wide by 16 inches tall. Colcord "Rusty" Heurlin was born in Christanstad, Sweden, to American parents. He was raised in Wakefield, Massachusetts. He attended art classes at the Fenway School of Illustration in Boston. In 1916 he went to Valdez, served in WWI in Europe and didn't return to Alaska until 1924, where he made his home in Ester, near Fairbanks. During the time between World War I and 1924, he worked as an Illustrator-artist for New York magazines, while he lived in Westport, Connecticut. Heurlin was known for his pastel palette and fall color backgrounds. Good original condition no holes or relining.The painting has only just recently been professionally cleaned and there is no paint loss or chipping paint. The painting does not need restoration. There is some cracqueluer which we show in the photographs provided. Shipping extra. Connecticut residents and buyers picking up in Connecticut add 6% state sales tax. Carved Animal Figurines, Carved Stone Animals, Caved Stone Polar Bear Figurine. Animal Figurines. Measures 6 and seven eighths inches long and is 2 and one half inches wide. This carved stone animal figurine measures 3 and one eighth inches high at the highest point, the head. there is a nice patina to the top from being held by hands. This polar bear has a wonderful posture. I have seen similar pieces by the Inuit tribe but I am not sure if they did this piece.

Lunda Hoyle Gill has had two exhibitions at he the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History one in 1976 "The Tribal People of Kenya" the second in 1979 "Alaska's Native People Eskimos,Aleuts and Indians" The Hammer Gallery in New York City held exhibitions of her work in 1978 and 1980.This painting was purchased from the 1978 Hammer Gallery exhibit She also had exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Hermitage Museum ST. Petersburg, Russian. Lunday Hoyle Gill's work has been or is still in the following collections, Senator Henry Bellmon, Senator Dewey Bartlett, President Lyndon B Johnson,Charlton Heston, Burt Reynolds,The Frye Museum,Seattle,Washington,the Genesee Country Museum, Mumford,New York, the Oklahoma Museum of Art, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Art Center, Oklahoma City, various Universities and other private collections throughout the United States,Canada,Mexico and Europe. She won many awards including the Stacey Fellowship. The Christian Science Monitor did and article on her on Tuesday December 21,1976. A book of her Chinese paintings The Han and the Fifty Five Minority Nationalities was published by the University of Hawaii Press and a second book Before the Rainbow Fades,collected her Israeli paintings. She also designed five stamps for the US Postal Service issued from Cody Wyoming August 17 1990. Her subject was Indian Feather headdresses for Assiniboine, Sheyenne, Comanche, Flathead, and Shoshone tribes.

See Chriistian Science Monitor 12/21/76 where an article on the artist appears on this image. The original frame measures 20 inches by 25 inches,the print measures 14 inches by 19 inches.There is some foxing on the print.
